Debbie is threatened and sets Preacher up and all because she’s afraid they’ll send her back where she ran from. Debbie stays with preacher and eventually they have Eva. Preacher takes her to meet his family and then tragedy strikes. She robs him and leaves and then they meet up again. He decides to let her tag along because he feels bad and responsible for her. In the story, Preacher is twenty four, VP of the Silver Demons and he just got out of prison after doing 2 years for possession when he saves Debbie, a runaway from a bunch of truckers. Eva brings up her mother and immediately regrets it when Preacher tells her he lied and he needed to tell her the whole story but to let him start from the beginning. She is angry because no one told her he was sick and she could have tried to save him. Preacher is on his death bad dying of cancer when Eva comes to see him in the hospital. It tells a story that was hidden for years from even Eva herself and Eva finds out her mother wasn’t who she thought she was and that her mom did love her. Undeserving tells the story of Preacher and Debbie (Eva’s mother). “At the end, we should all go back to the beginning, if only to remind ourselves we once lived.”– Undeserving By Madeline Sheehan.
